KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
•
Works closely with the program teams and partners, the Gender Advisor, and the Area Program Manager to implement and monitor project plans and activities related to gender mainstreaming and introducing gender components in EFSVL and WASH interventions where and when appropriate.
•
Work directly on the ongoing long-term gender targeted interventions and mainstreaming as well as actively supporting emergency and humanitarian responses through a gendered lens.
•
Working with the gender advisor, support the conceptualization of gendered targeted interventions to address the gendered social norms within the different programmes in Oxfam.
•
Enhance and facilitate discussions on main gender concerns and response capacity within Oxfam staff and the displaced and the host communities.
•
Identify, individually advise and assess the needs of the most vulnerable individuals, particularly women at risk, and the available response opportunities in accordance with set guidelines, plans and schedules either within the MSNA or the Gender Analysis.

•
Conduct, gender and vulnerability assessment and identify cases for assistance according to pre-defined criteria across Oxfam programming.
•
Participate in needs assessments carried out in the Hub ensuring gender is mainstreams in those exercises while ensuring each programme keeps an active gender action plan for mainstreaming.
•
Work with MEAL teams to ensure indicators set for programmes are gender responsive and data collected is on Sex and Age Desegregated (SADD).
•
Provide technical support to other local stakeholders such as women committees, local committees and Oxfam implementing partners to empower their own agencies to address gender inequalities at different levels.
•
Provide constant training and capacity building and induction to the team with guidance from the Gender Advisor to ensure the team is kept updated on the constant and changing gender landscape and how to integrate it into their different roles in Oxfam. Provide gender induction for new staff.
•
Conduct information sessions, record feedback (comments, suggestions) and report result back to the Gender Advisor on issues of concern with recommended areas of intervention.
•
Submit weekly and monthly activity plans, reports and recommendations for assessed persons and identified beneficiaries.
•
Support the development of localized advocacy groups with relevant local stakeholders (incl. municipalities, service providers, etc.) by organizing regular meetings (incl. drafting and circulation of minutes and agenda logistics)
•
Propose new activities according to identified needs and suggest solutions for problems encountered with activities based on lessons from previous interventions or recent assessments.
•
Coordinate with other relevant local and international gender and GBV stakeholders including UN agencies.
•
Gather GBV-related data from the field team and update Oxfam data in the relevant GBV database.
•
Organize activities to increase awareness of the team on gender inequality and gender justice and co-facilitate sensitization sessions on gender for Oxfam and partner team.
•
Conduct spot check Visits to project sites to offer support and monitor progress of partners’ activities and work- plans; draw attention to successes and challenges faced in the program and suggest solutions related to gender justice and gender mainstreaming.
•
Review project activity reports from partners and within Oxfam's other departments and to ensure that the reporting adheres to the gender continuums leading to transformation.
•
Prepare monthly and quarterly inputs on gender mainstreaming, Gender section in the Sit Rep, success stories, case studies, etc.
•
Work closely with the Gender Advisor and M&E to ensure gender analyses are conducted at the proposal development stage and support mainstreaming of gender sensitivity in various studies across Oxfam programs.
•
Participates in mapping of potential women’s rights partners and gender capacity assessment of partners. Maintaining an updated map of organizations at the hub level that work on gender and/or can be potential partners for gender justice-related activities.

Supports research leading to gender equality programs, campaigns and policy change

Ability to communicate in English, write reports in English and consolidate the reports into formal English documentation, including translation of documents into either Arabic or English
Experience and an understanding of and experience of working in the humanitarian or development sector.
