Responsibilities

1. Representation and Relationship Management
•Represent IDA in meetings with donors, partners, and governmental entities.
•Build and maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders, ensuring clear communication of IDA’s mission, values, and programmatic goals.
•Act as the primary point of contact for external inquiries regarding IDA’s operations in Damascus.
2. Coordination and Communication
•Coordinate closely with the Programs Director and General Director to ensure alignment of activities and communication strategies with IDA’s broader objectives.
•Facilitate internal communication between the Damascus office and IDA’s headquarters to streamline operations and decision-making processes.
•Support the Programs and General Management teams by relaying recommendations and updates to governmental entities and external partners.
3. Governmental Liaison
•Assist the Head of the Damascus Office in meeting governmental requirements and maintaining compliance with regulations.
•Establish and maintain relationships with relevant ministries, directorates, and other governmental bodies.
• Ensure timely submission of required reports, approvals, and documentation to government authorities.
•Address and resolve any issues related to governmental regulations in coordination with the Head of Office.
4. Donor and Partner Engagement
•Support donor and partner visits by organizing logistics and preparing briefing materials.
•Present IDA’s projects and impact effectively during meetings and events.
•Ensure follow-up on action points from donor and partner engagements.
5. Reporting and Documentation
•Prepare detailed reports on liaison and communication activities for the Head of Office and IDA’s management.
•Document minutes of meetings with donors, partners, and governmental entities, ensuring timely sharing with relevant teams.
•Maintain a database of contacts and key stakeholders.
6. Strategic Support
•Provide recommendations to the Head of Office on improving communication strategies and government relations.
•Identify potential risks in external relationships and propose mitigation strategies.
•Monitor trends in donor priorities and government policies to inform IDA’s strategic planning.


Qualifications
Education:
•Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Political Science, International Relations, or a related field. A master’s degree is an advantage.
Experience:
•Minimum of 5 years of experience in liaison, communication, or similar roles within an international NGO or a related organization.
•Proven track record of managing relationships with donors, partners, and governmental entities.
•Experience in working within complex regulatory environments.

•Proficiency in Arabic and English (written and spoken).

•Problem-solving mindset with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

4. Feedback from internal and external stakeholders on communication effectiveness.
5. Successful facilitation of donor and partner visits.

Work Conditions
•Based in Damascus with occasional travel to other locations as required.
•Flexible working hours, with availability to attend meetings and events outside regular hours when necessary.
