Background:
The Distribution Assistant will support the distribution of Non-Food Items (NFIs), hygiene kits, and other essential supplies to refugees and displaced persons in hosting shelters/communities. This position plays a key role in ensuring that all items are distributed efficiently and fairly while maintaining respect for the dignity of beneficiaries.
The successful candidates will be included in a mobile resource pool and will be assigned tasks based on operational needs and their availability.

Role Specific Information:
- Distribution Support:
o Assist in the set-up and organization of distribution points in shelters or camps.
o Distribute NFIs, hygiene kits, and other supplies to beneficiaries as per distribution lists and protocols.
o Participate in different tasks required such as verifications, initial assessments, Post Distribution Monitoring (PDMs), data entry etc.
o Ensure beneficiaries are properly registered and cross-check their details during distribution.
o Handle crowd control and ensure that distributions are carried out in an orderly manner.
- Inventory & Stock Control:
o Ensure that all distributed items match the pre-distribution inventory.
o Maintain accurate records of items distributed and assist in stock reconciliation after each distribution.
- Beneficiary Communication:
o Provide clear information to beneficiaries about the items being distributed and the distribution process.
o Address any questions or concerns from beneficiaries in a respectful and professional manner.
o Report any challenges or concerns raised by beneficiaries to the supervisor.
- Coordination:
o Work closely with the Distribution Leader and other team members to ensure the smooth operation of distributions.
- Reporting:
o Assist in compiling daily/weekly distribution reports and submitting them to the supervisor.
o Report any incidents or issues during distributions promptly.
- Compliance & Accountability:
o Ensure adherence to organizational standards, guidelines, and procedures.
o Uphold the principles of humanitarian accountability, ensuring transparency and fairness in all distribution activities.

- High school or higher (student in a university or an intermediate institute is highly preferred).
- Previous experience in working with other I/NGOs is preferred.
- Proficiency in Arabic is essential; basic English is an advantage.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Basic computer literacy (for record-keeping and reporting).
- Previous experience in working with other I/NGOs is preferred.

NRC is in Syria to support people affected by forced displacement (IDPs, returnees, host community etc.) so that they can have access to timely and effective assistance, to cope with the crisis and when the crisis ends return and rebuild their lives. Since the start of its activities in mid-2016 in Syria, NRC has reached with humanitarian assistance more than 360,000 people, out of which more than 150,000 reached in 2018 alone in the Governorates of Damascus, Aleppo and Rif Damascus.
NRC will continue to apply an integrated programming approach, where Education, capacity building, Shelter/WASH, and Food Security and Livelihoods (FSL) programmes work jointly to enable displacement-affected populations to meet their basic needs, enjoy their rights, and benefit from pathways to durable solutions.
