Responsibilities
1- Background:
The livelihood component of the Caritas Syria projects aims to support individuals and communities affected by the ongoing crisis by providing them with sustainable income-generating opportunities. As part of these projects, there is a need to conduct comprehensive Coaching and Mentoring Skills training to empower staff with essential knowledge and skills. This ToR is designed to outline the requirements for a qualified outsourced trainer/training agency that will deliver training to Caritas Syria staff who are labelled as mentors and coaches on Business Development and Life Skills topics.
2- Objectives:
The primary objective of the training is to enhance the capacity of project mentors and coaches’ skills to deliver effective mentoring and coaching to project recipients.
3- Scope of Work:
The training should cover the following areas:
a.What are coaching and mentoring?
-The differences and similarities between coaching and mentoring.
-The benefits of coaching and mentoring.
b.How to coach and mentor: The essentials:
-Taking notes.
-readiness to coach or to mentor.
-Creating the right environment.
-coaching and mentoring agreement.
-The What? So what? Now what? Model.
-Asking the right questions: questions to ask at each stage of the What? So what? Now what? Model.
-Genuine listening.
-Giving Effective feedback
c.Coaching and Mentoring individual and group sessions arrangement:
-Arrange sessions with recipients after submission of the business plan.
-Arrange sessions with recipients after the Internship and TVET (Technical, Vocational, and Educational Training).
-Dealing with the problems that arise later in the recipient's enterprise.

Qualifications
The trainer should possess the following qualifications and skills:
a.Relevant educational background or certifications in business development, entrepreneurship, training, or a related field.
b.Extensive experience in delivering business development, entrepreneurship, and life skills training, preferably in a similar context or with vulnerable populations.
c.Strong facilitation and training skills, with the ability to engage and inspire diverse groups of learners.
d.Knowledge of adult learning principles and interactive training methodologies.
e.Familiarity with the Syrian context and sensitivity to the cultural nuances and challenges faced by the recipients.
f.Excellent communication and mentoring skills.


Specific Vacancy Requirements
Deliverables:
The trainer is expected to deliver the following:
a.Training curriculum and materials tailored to the specific requirements.
b.Training report, including an overview of the training conducted, feedback received, evaluation of trainees, pre-post test and recommendations for improvement.
c.Ongoing mentoring and support documentation, including records of check-ins, feedback sessions, troubleshooting assistance, and guidance on incorporating activities.
Timeframe:
The Coaching and Mentoring Skills training will take place during the last week of October 2023, in Damascus for about 20 mentors and coaches from Caritas Syria staff. The estimated duration of this assignment is 21 hours. The trainer should propose a detailed timeline and schedule of activities in their application.

Salary and Benefits
Interested trainers are invited to submit a detailed training proposal outlining the content, methodology, training materials, pre-post tests, and the associated costs for delivering the training. The proposal should also include the trainer's biography, relevant experience, and references.
