Responsibilities
1. Cost Estimation: Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for construction projects, including materials, labor, equipment, and other related expenses.
2. Budget Management: Develop and manage project budgets, including cost monitoring and control, to ensure projects are completed within the approved budget.
3. Quantity Takeoff: Calculate and quantify materials and resources needed for construction projects, based on architectural and engineering drawings and specifications.
4. Procurement Support: Assist in the procurement process by providing quantity and cost data to help make informed decisions regarding subcontractor and supplier selection.
5. Tendering: Prepare and review tender documents, assess bids from subcontractors and suppliers, and participate in tender negotiations.
6. Cost Analysis: Analyze and review contractor and supplier invoices, change orders, and variations to ensure they align with the project budget.
7. Risk Assessment: Identify potential risks and challenges related to cost and budget, and work with the project team to develop strategies to mitigate them.
8. Value Engineering: Suggest cost-saving measures and alternative solutions to maximize value without compromising quality.
9. Reporting: Create regular reports on project cost status, variations, and forecasts to keep project stakeholders informed.
10. Contract Management: Understand and administer construction contracts, ensuring that all parties comply with contractual terms related to cost and quantities.
11. Project Documentation: Maintain accurate records of cost-related documents, including contracts, invoices, change orders, and progress payments.
12. Quality Control: Collaborate with engineers, architects, and project managers to ensure that construction work meets quality standards within budget constraints.


Qualifications
-A bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field.
-Professional certification in Quantity Surveying is preferred
-Strong knowledge of construction materials, methods, and processes.
-Proficiency in using quantity surveying software and cost estimation tools.
-Excellent mathematical and analytical skills.
-Strong communication and negotiation skills.
-Attention to detail and accuracy in cost estimation.
-Knowledge of construction contracts and legal aspects.
-Project management and time management skills.
-Ability to work effectively within a team and independently


Specific Vacancy Requirements
-Typically, 5 to 10 years of experience in quantity surveying and cost management within the construction industry.
