Responsibilities
II. Context
UNDP in Homs has initiated income-generating agricultural interventions for rural families with a focus on environmentally sustainable practices. These interventions encompass promoting sustainable agricultural techniques such as compost production, rainwater harvesting, fodder alternatives, and supporting home food processing initiatives. In 2024, UNDP Homs will continue these interventions across various areas of the Homs countryside, both directly and through implementing partners.
The scope of work involves planning, implementation, and learning through documenting lessons learned and conducting periodic evaluations of activities. Effective communication with specialized technical authorities from the government and private sectors is essential.

III. Objectives of the Assignment
Under the overall direction and supervision of the Central Area Manager and Technical Officer, the Project Technician will be responsible for ensuring the successful technical achievement of all project activities and providing follow-up support to beneficiaries to ensure adherence to technical specifications and project goals.

Develop a comprehensive planning mechanism to efficiently achieve project objectives, key performance indicators, and meet project deadlines.
Provide technical supervision of project activities.
Monitor the implementation of planned activities and ensure adherence to timelines.
Ensure timely preparation and compilation of the project work plan.
Establish effective coordination, information sharing, and reporting systems.
Conduct daily field visits to monitor project progress comprehensively.
Submit monthly progress reports and a final report detailing progress against the project plan, achievements, challenges faced, risk updates, and proposed corrective actions.
Liaise with contractors/vendors to ensure delivered machines and tools meet specified technical requirements.
Ensure materials provided by vendors meet requested specifications and maintain records of received quantities.
Ensure beneficiaries receive expected outcomes and satisfaction with project results, soliciting and incorporating their feedback as necessary.
Facilitate networking and knowledge sharing through continuous coordination with local stakeholders, including community representatives, leaders, and beneficiaries.
Perform any other duties as required.


Qualifications
VII. Recruitment Qualifications
Education: Bachelor Degree, master or PHD in agricultural engineering or another related field.

Experience: Minimum of 2 years’ practical work experience in (the field of project’s activities) is very important.
Has experience 2 years at least in field works.
At least 2 years of experience in humanitarian work in associations or organizations.
Language Requirements: Arabic and working knowledge of English is an asset.

-Candidates with more than 3 months Third Party Personnel contract validity, will not be eligible to apply for this position
