Responsibilities
Location: Jdaidet Artouz, Rural Damascus.
Duration: 4 months (Extended, depending on project implementation)

The Social Cohesion expert will be responsible for achieving the following objectives:
-Develop ToR and SOPs for the youth dialogue meetings and the youth-led initiatives.
-Develop a training curriculum on social cohesion for youth in Jdaidet Artouz.
-Develop a training implementation work plan stating the expert plans to tackle the subject along with the expected objectives and outcomes of the training sessions. The training should aim to increase the understanding of conflict drivers among youth and provide them with the necessary skills to prevent and resolve conflicts in their communities.
-Provide technical assistance to the CS team on social cohesion and peaceful co-existence, including the development of social cohesion programming and the integration of social cohesion into existing programs.
-Support the social workers in the preparation and implementation of the youth dialogue session over the course of 6 dialogue sessions as well as the awareness-raising sessions (4).
-Collaborate with local stakeholders, including community leaders and organizations, to promote a culture of peace and non-violence in Jdaidet Artouz.
-Involve in the cultural activities and events and the youth-led initiatives around Rural Damascus.
-Provide regular progress reports to the local organisation and participate in regular meetings to discuss the implementation of the project.
-Provide support to the CS team in implementing the program activities and planned initiatives.
-Submit qualitative and quantitative reports on the progress of activities and implementation. Along with faced challenges, practices and lessons learned.


Qualifications
The ideal candidate for this position should have the following qualifications:
-A minimum of five years of experience in conflict analysis, social cohesion, peacebuilding, or related fields.
-Experience in conducting social cohesion assessments and developing sensitive programming.
-Experience in designing and delivering training programs on social cohesion.
-Experience working with youth and/or communities affected by conflict.
-Strong analytical and writing skills, with experience in developing reports and other written materials.
-Ability to work independently and as part of a team, and to collaborate effectively with local stakeholders.
-Fluency in English and Arabic is required.

Specific Vacancy Requirements
Jdaidet Artouz is a town located in the Rif Dimashq Governorate in Syria. The town has experienced significant conflict and displacement in recent years. The conflict has had a significant impact on the population, particularly youth who have been exposed to violence and trauma. To address these challenges, Caritas Syria is seeking a social cohesion expert in Jdaidet Artouz to provide training for both the CS Team as capacity building and for the youth on Social Cohesion.
The proposed training for youth aims to let the youth learn about themselves and their world and inspire them to think critically and make a difference. CS seeks to empower diverse community youth to actively promote social cohesion and reconciliation in Rural Damascus through bringing Syrian youth from different communities, cultures and backgrounds to socialize together, make connections and interact with each other, open the safe to communicate as well as promote trust and relation with different communities.

Other Duties: In addition to the main objectives outlined above, the social cohesion expert may be asked to undertake other duties, including:
-Facilitating workshops or other events on social cohesion and peacebuilding.
-Providing technical assistance to the CS on other aspects of their programming, as needed.
-Developing and delivering presentations on social cohesion and related topics.
-Participating in other meetings or events related to social cohesion or peacebuilding, as requested by the CS.
