Responsibilities
1.Purpose:
The purpose of this post is to assist the UNDP counterparts with maintaining, upgrading and managing their software systems, hardware and networks to be sure that they run smoothly and efficiently based on their needs.
2.Duties and Responsibilities
The System Administrator main responsibilities are:
Constant communication with the stakeholders to deploy their content – and ensuring there is a clear establishment of what can be created within what timeframe
Install and configure software and hardware.
Supervise data entry and set up accounts and workstations.
Manage development accounts on application stores.
Manage network servers and technology tools.
Upgrade software components and functionalities.
Manage virtual servers.
Troubleshoot hardware and software errors by running diagnostics, documenting problems and resolutions, prioritizing problems, and assessing impact of issues
Provide documentation and technical specifications for planning and implementing new or upgrades of IT infrastructure
Perform or delegate regular backup operations and implement appropriate processes for data protection, disaster recovery, and failover procedures.
Responsible for capacity, storage planning, and database performance.
Monitor performance and maintain systems according to requirements.
Ensure security through access controls, backups and firewalls.
Upgrade systems with new releases and models.
Train staff on systems.

Recruitment Qualifications
Education: Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or information technology.
Experience: Proven experience as a System Administrator.
Experience with databases, networks (LAN, WAN) and patch management.
Working knowledge of virtualization, VMWare, or equivalent.
Strong Knowledge of system security (e.g. intrusion detection systems), storage, data protection, and disaster recovery protocols.
Experience with scripting and automation tools
Knowledge of systems and networking software, hardware, and networking protocols.
Experience with server-side frameworks such as python, ruby, php, Java, ASP, ASP.NET
Experience with database systems such as SQL and Oracle.
Thorough functional knowledge and coding experience
Basic knowledge of Search Engine Optimization
Team management experience.
Provide a Sample of work to prove the above.
Language Requirements: Proficiency in English and Arabic is a must.

Salary and Benefits
-This position is with ICI for the benefit of UNDP Damascus
-Candidates with more than 3 months Third Party Personnel contract validity, will not be eligible to apply for this position
