Responsibilities
Responsible for planning, developing, and supervising the educational activities implemented in Rural Damascus, also with monitoring visits to the field. Reporting to the PM (international), and collaborating with the PSS focal point, the resource is entitled to: develop specific working plans and activity reports, maintain relations with directors and teachers of the schools, co-organize the planned trainings.
Main tasks and responsibilities:
• Coordination of the intervention: development and implementation of the work plan on the field, monitoring of activities (remedial classes, catch-up courses, BTL, etc.).
• Ensure regular supervision of the activities implemented, also through frequent travels to the field.
• Organize and actively participate to training sessions and group activity (Active Learning, PSEA).
• Provide support to teachers on the field in order to face challenge and maintain high quality results.
• Respond to recommendations made by the Project Manager or evaluators in order to ensure efficient and effective project implementation and goal attainment.
• Collaborate with the PM and the PSS Focal Point to ensure that the project goals and plans are aligned with National Response Plan and performed in due time.
• Liaise with Project Manager, Liaison officer, Logistics, Safety and Security, HR etc. and all stakeholders for the correct implementation of the project.
• Evaluate activity progress and determine necessary actions to be on track.
• Submit monthly, quarterly, and annual activity reports as scheduled per the project.
• Support the MEAL manager in data collection by preparing and delivering monitoring tools (e.g pre and post-tests, and attendance sheets)
• Ensure sound administrative practices regarding record keeping, compliance with donor/AVSI regulations, communications, etc.
• Timely referring to the PM and the AVSI Liaison officer for requests, activities’ authorisations, suggestions, and complaints to the Ministry of Education.
• Participate and contributing to the working group and staff meetings.
• Respect Standards Operation Procedures.


Logistic
• Prepare and upload on Dynamics procurement documents for purchase requests following AVSI logistical procedures.
• Prepare lists of items according to Project goals and AVSI procedures, including specifications (quantity, models, dimensions, etc.)
• Track the delivery process on the field and check the contents, quality and quantities of materials distributed to beneficiaries – people and schools.


Qualifications
- Master degree in Education and/or Social Sciences
• Good understanding of the national educational system, challenges and related humanitarian interventions.
• English fluency (the education officer will collaborate on a daily basis with international staff).
• Proficient use of Outlook, including sharepoint.



Specific Vacancy Requirements
• At least three years of working experience in the humanitarian sector.
• Previous experience in working in interventions in education and/or in the education system
• Great communication and reporting skills.
• Quick learner in using computer tools.
• Team work and adaptability.
