Responsibilities
1. Define the overall database structure, including recovery, security, backup, and capability specifications.
2. Determine overall requirements for database structure in order to increase the efficiency and performance.
3. Assess database implementation procedures to ensure compliance with internal and external regulations.
4. Participate in evaluating existing systems with industry standards, and make recommendations for improvement.
5. Design and implement effective database solutions and models to store and retrieve Syriatel data.
6. Create primary database storage structures and allocate system storage requirements for database systems.
7. Participate in installing, configuring, administering and troubleshooting Oracle servers’ software, application tools and related products.
8. Participate in Performing troubleshooting, investigating for future mitigation of re-occurring problems.
9. Administer test backup and recovery plans that adhere to the policies and archiving rules.
10. Apply troubleshooting review, categorize, initially diagnose, resolve/reassign and follow up incidents reported by users/system.
11. Execute any required database upgrades and migrations (patches etc.)
12. Perform shell scripting or other basic scripting related to performing the Database Administration tasks.
13. Implement and maintain database security as per standards, control and monitor user access to the database as per policies and procedures.
14. Participate with concerned parties to set & implement strategic plans for disaster recovery.
15. Check Section & Individual objectives on regular basis and effectively participate in achieving them to ensure successful contribution to company's goals and corporate objectives.
16. Participate in conducting the OJT for new team members and promote a culture of knowledge transfer, cooperation and teamwork.
17. Contribute to the continuous improvement of Syriatel Quality Management System.

Qualifications
1. Bachelor’s Degree in Computer sciences, IT engineering or equivalent with 2 Years of Database Administration Experience are required.
2. Professional Certification:
• Database Administration Certificates (Oracle, SQL Server and My SQL) are plus
• Development Professional Certificates / Operating Systems Professional Certificates (UNIX) / ITIL are plus.
