Responsibilities
- Conduct mental health assessments of individuals and families coming to the health facility, develop care plans, deliver psychological intervention, and follow ups.
- Assist in setting up the integrated mental health and psychosocial support within primary healthcare program in line with Ministry of Health guidelines, AAH guidelines, and WHO MH-GAP guideline.
- Provide mental health consultations, psychosocial support sessions, and psychological first aid services when needed.
- Identify the areas of integration among psychosocial program and other departments (Reproductive and Child Health, Primary Health Care, Community Health Work, Women's Protection and Empowerment and livelihoods to name a few)
- Follow the referral pathways outlined by AAH, for other complicated mental cases, which are in need for hospitalization.
- Facilitate group PSS sessions for women, men, boys, and girls with special emphasis on pregnant and lactating women and girls.
- Provide guidance and technical support for adapting MH-GAP guidelines to the local context and on developing specific activities and/or interventions for affected-displaced populations and host communities within the context of Syria.
-Support the identification and training of local outreach professionals, workers and civil society for training in community outreach, case finding and mental health promotion.
- Participate in MH-GAP training for primary healthcare doctors at the ministry and in the catchment area, and other areas as per the Ministry of Health and its Department of Health needs in Syria.
- Sensitize AAH staff on the importance of mental well being in the workplace and principles of integrating nutrition with mental health and psychosocial support.
- Train AAH field staff on delivering psychological first aid in the field.
-Work with monitoring team on developing and implementing data collection, Monitoring and quality control measures (e.g. on the job supervision checklists) for mental health and psycho social support services, and community and school-based psycho social activities.

Qualifications
-Preferably BA in Psychology OR BA or MA in Social Work with training in mental health OR BS in Nursing with mental health experience OR Psychiatrist with MD degree.
-Skilled in mental health in complex emergencies (IASC guidelines, psychological first aid, MH-GAP, psychosocial support), and Primary Health Care. Additional knowledge and abilities in maternal and child health and in nutrition will be highly appreciated.
-1-3 years of experience in Psychology OR in social work OR in nursing with previous experience in mental health. Experience in working within Northeast Syria is desirable
