Responsibilities
-Identify and communicate with community stakeholders and community leaders to inform them about the program activities and their input
-Conduct community sensitization on the program objectives and methods in order to stimulate and promote understanding and participation among the target population.
-Promote the Infant and Young Child Feeding Educator program to the community and partners.
-Identify community health workers and focal points who provide Infant and Young Child Feeding Educator counselling within the targeted population.
-Identify usual and new communications delivery structures in the context to deliver Infant and Young Child Feeding Educator messages quickly with great impact.
-Conduct one-on-one and group counselling sessions and deliver messages on appropriate Infant and Young Child Feeding Educator practices and maternal nutrition to the targeted community through group education/awareness sessions.
-Assist in local level awareness-raising on Infant and Young Child Feeding Educator in collaboration with other humanitarian partners in the targeted area.
-Support and supervise the community health workers, Infant and Young Child Feeding Educator counselors, and midwives to ensure that messages delivered adhere to the national and international guidelines.
-Conduct simple rapid assessment to assess mothers and their children for specific feeding support needs and refer for full assessment and additional support .
-Refer children for intensive nutritional and medical care.
-Ensure caregivers are aware of available nutrition services.
-Provide regular feedback on the communities’ perceptions of the program.
-Follow-up issues related to low attendance rate and defaulters, identify the underlining causes and propose appropriate solutions.
-Maintain records of all mothers, caregivers and children attending the education sessions
-Record and report any donations of infant formula, bottles and teats and any other violation of International Code of Marketing of Breastmilk Substitutes (WHO code).
-Collaborate with Monitoring team to provide regular feedback on Infant and Young Child Feeding Educator activities.

Qualifications
- Knowledge of Primary health care, reproductive care, care practices, health care management
- Preferably BS in Nutrition OR BS in Nursing/Midwifery OR BA in Social Sciences or Psychology OR BS Medicine as General Practitioner OR BS in Public Health.
- Good command of Arabic and English.
- Microsoft Office (Excel, Word), web-based services.

Specific Vacancy Requirements
-Skilled in Infant and Young Child Feeding Practices in Emergencies, and specifically within the Syrian context. Knowledge of primary healthcare system in Syria
-1-2 years of experience with INGO/NGO of Infant and Young Child Feeding Practices (IYCF) in Syria, knowledge of maternal and child health protocols and guidelines, including national operational planning for IYCF, and treatment of malnourished children in Community Management of Acute Malnutrition is advantageous.
-1- 2 years of experience in humanitarian sector, or training in emergency response or disaster management in the context of IYCF and mental health and psycho social support is an asset.
