1- Identify subjects of interest for communications materials related to health in the Syria crisis and response
2- Produce high quality communications materials and media tools, including audio-visual, photographic and printed materials, television and radio programs, multimedia presentations, videos and press releases, etc., to promote WHO visibility, achievements and success stories; ensure they are in line with WHO communication strategies, and bring in a human element from personal experience whenever possible.
3- Ensure the dissemination of information; advise on dissemination tactics; organize interviews and filming opportunities to support high-visibility of WHO humanitarian work through television, radio and newspapers exposure; provide support to broadcast media and journalists and facilitate their access to related information, as appropriate.
4- Establish and maintain a network of contacts in the press/media world to ensure and promote the dissemination of information.
5- Update WHO websites following guidelines and standards used throughout the Organization to ensure consistency of approach; and critically review and improve contents, architecture and design.
6- Research and write feature stories and messages in line with WHO communication strategies bringing in a human element from personal experience.
7- Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential: At least five years experience as a journalist or in a media organization (television, radio and/or print), at the national level, or in the organization involved in information and communications projects and/or tactics related to humanitarian crises and response relief interventions
Desirable: Experience in planning and implementing media and communications projects tactics, humanitarian projects including the development of audio and visual materials and tools. Experience in similar positions in the UN or NGOs
Excellent knowledge of English. Good knowledge of another WHO official language and the local language a definite asset
