Responsibilities
Generic responsibilities
• Ensure adherence with NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines.
• Ensure compliance with Education strategy, tools, handbooks, guidelines and standards.
• Ensure that the projects implemented are realized in a timely and high quality manner and as per the objectives and planned activities.
• Prepares and develops status reports as required by management.
• Ensure proper filing of project documents.
• Participate in preparation and facilitation of training workshops for NRC staff on children and youth education.
• Promote and share ideas for improvement of the programme

Specific Responsibilities
• Contribute to the detailed planning (schedule, timetables, locations, resources) of the children/youth education programme, in line with the annual plans – budgets, targets, and quality standards.
• Contribute directly to the design of materials and tools for the children/youth education programme, in line with NRC’s strategy and quality standards.
• Ensure the timely and quality implementation, and documentation, of assigned education activities and achievement of set targets; timely flag potential challenges and risks and request for support in addressing them, as per need.
• Contribute to the identification and selection of suitable and safe locations for the implementation of the children/youth education activities. Establish and maintain efficient collaborative relationships with host communities.
• Contribute to the recruitment and ensure the induction and supervision of casual resources needed for the implementation of the children/youth education programme (facilitators, trainers, community assistants, etc.)
• Support the line manager in designing the outreach strategy. Ensure that the strategy is timely and accurately implemented by the coordinated team and that a fair beneficiary selection process is conducted in all assigned communities.
• Ensure the monitoring and quality check of the children/youth education activities by contributing to data collection (as per NRC logframe and donor requirements), activity documentation, spot visits, data analysis and drafting of regular activity implementation and monitoring reports.
• Responsible for ensuring that all administrative, logistical, and financial arrangements and documentation regarding the children/youth education programme are prepared as per NRC standards.
• Participate in the development of communication materials (ex.: newsletters / Success Stories/ Briefing Notes).
• May be requested to provide inputs for the design of the annual plans and grant proposals and reports in relation to the same programme.
• Contribute to need assessments in current or new operation areas (data collection, analysis and report writing, as per need) and informs decisions on area/community selection, programme response and approach, based on own capacity and knowledge.
• Can be deployed temporarily to other field locations for initial assessments, the delivery of education assistance - initiation/ planning/ coordination/ implementation/ monitoring/ evaluation of non-formal children /youth education activities, recruitment of education staff (permanent and/or mobile) and/or capacity building.
• Can be re-allocated temporarily to other positions or requested to support other education activities that require a similar expertise, as per the education programme priorities.
• Other specific responsibilities depending on the programme assigned:
a) Emergency education: facilitation of activities with children/youth, coordination of activities and facilitators on site, etc.
b) Transition education: coordination of activities on site, coaching facilitators, guidance for school enrollment and follow-up to minimize drop-out risks, coordination with public education stakeholders, etc.
c) Education activities in schools: training and coaching teachers/MOE employees, organizing activities with students and parents, etc.
d) Vocational training: market assessments, identifying and vetting collaborators, vocational training curricula design, youth performance monitoring, etc.


Qualifications
• Minimum Bachelor Degree.
• Previous experience from working in a humanitarian/recovery context, preferably as a project assistant.
• Previous experience from working in a complex and volatile context
• Previous relevant experience of minimum 2 (experienced)/ 1 (junior) year in planning, implementing/overseeing the implementation and reporting children/youth education activities/projects
• Good in English and Arabic, both written and verbal.

Context/ Specific skills, knowledge and experience
• Experience in facilitating activities or trainings for children/youth education programmes.
• Teaching experience in schools or in delivering trainings and/or mentoring/coaching teachers (only for the NRC education programme in schools)
• Experience in dealing with public stakeholders within the public Education System (e.g. schools principals, MoE/DoE representatives).
• Experience with vocational training and livelihoods (only for the youth education programme)
• Knowledge of pedagogy, child development, evaluation of learning.
• Understanding of alternative educations programms/pathways
• Experience in community mobilization, outreach, and successful liaison with key stakeholders (e.g. communities, schools, etc.)
• Experience in coordinating/supervising teams (only for Experienced Assistant Level)
• Experience in overseeing the implementation of activities and reporting.
