Responsibilities
Generic responsibilities
Adheres to NRC policies and procedures, handbooks and guidelines.
• Develops own weekly activity planning with direct supervisor.
• Monitors progress of own activities.
• Prepares, files, tracks and archives documents according to standards set in the departments Handbooks.

specific responsibilities
Supports the Logistics coordinator in the setup of logistics systems, and implementation of logistics policies and procedures at the whenever necessary in various sites or sub offices.
•Maintains logistics filing systems, electronic and hardcopy, and ensures that files are complete, correct and include all relevant documentation to meet audit requirements.
• Completes and files accurate and up-to-date logistics documents, incl. Goods Received Notes (GRN), Waybill, and Loss & Damage Reports.
• Assist in the establishment and maintenance of framework agreements for NRC offices and sub sites.
• Ensures all local procurement procedures in NRC office are effectively followed in compliance with the NRC logistics Handbook and relevant donor guidelines.
• Identifies suitable and reliable suppliers, vendors, providers and contractors of goods and services in support of programme implementation in accordance with NRC logistics guidelines.
• Responsible for cash handling and ensuring that all cash advances for local procurement are reconciled in accordance with NRC finance policies and procedures.
• Ensures all stock management procedures in NRC office are effectively followed in compliance with the NRC logistics Handbook and relevant donor guidelines.
• Tracks NRC office assets from procurement to disposal by maintaining the asset register.
• Prepares and submits daily / weekly / monthly logistics reports as required, including PR Tracker, Stock Report, and Assets Register.
• Any other general logistics assistance as directed by line management.
Specific responsibilities
• Conduct spot checks, periodic stock counts, market surveys etc.
• Support NRC in Damascus in setting up and establishing sound logistic procedures in line with relevant legal provisions.
• Contribute to shape and build NRC team in Damascus or elsewhere through active participation in ongoing start up of activities.
• Support NRC team in Damascus and other sites from a logistic point of view (premises, accommodation, travel arrangements relevant to the position and in coordination with administrative department etc.)
• Ready to engage into NRC logistic sector at 360 degrees as per requirements of the mission.

• Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Office (MS Excel, Word, and Outlook)

• Good diplomacy and negotiating skills
• Ability to work in English (written/spoken) Fluency in Arabic and English, both written and verbal.
• University degree relevant for the position or extensive experience in the logistic sector.

NRC is a non-governmental, non-profit, humanitarian, independent organisation. It provides assistance to people affected by crises & i.e. refugees, internally displaced people, host communities etc. - to meet their immediate humanitarian needs, prevent further displacement and contribute to durable solutions.
NRC was established in 1946 under the name Aid to Europe, to assist refugees in Europe after World War II. After almost 70 years of interventions all over the world, today NRC is organised as an independent and private foundation that cooperates closely with the UN and other humanitarian organisations, around the world as well as in Norway. NRCs funding base is not only diverse but also flexible, counting a number of different donors including the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the United Nations. In 2014 NRC assisted more than four million displaced and conflict-affected people around the world, and raised more than USD 250 million for our humanitarian programming. The type of activities implemented in each context varies from country to country depending on the needs on the ground and priorities laid out in strategic response plans of Governments and the UN. However NRC mainly specialises in five programme areas: Education, Shelter, WASH, Food Security as well as supporting displacement affected population to access further services. Moreover, extensive expertise has been gained by the organization over the years also on Collective Shelters Coordination and Management.
In addition, NRC provides expertise as a strategic partner to the UN as well as to national and international actors including governments and line ministries- through its stand-by rosters. Only in 2014 almost 600 humanitarian experts were deployed to 49 countries, making NRCs rosters the most used expert deployment capacity in the humanitarian world.
Finally, NRC promotes and sustains efforts at different levels to keep high the attention on the condition and situation of displaced and vulnerable people affected by ongoing crisis.
