Responsibilities
-In charge of the Operations Department: ensured smooth and safe day-to-day operations of the vessels and optimized performance of the fleet under management by anticipating and avoiding problems and claims
- Achieved optimum coordination between company departments, vessels, Charterers and all third parties involved with the Ships
- Keeping in close contact with Chartering department advising brokers of vessels movements and expected dates of completion of present voyages and next openings and guiding them during negotiations regarding clauses to be inserted in voyage or time C/P
-Having daily communication with vessels Masters to give them voyage instructions and to guide them regarding tendering of NOR, signature of Bs/L and other cargo documents, issuance of letters of protest, checking of Statements of Facts and remarks to be inserted therein in order to protect Owners interests
-Communicating daily with Charterers by sending them notices with vessels ETA, stowage plans, LOIs; dealing also with all issues arising throughout execution of the voyages such as quantity to be loaded, difference between draft survey and shore scale figures etc
- Negotiating PDAs, appointing agents worldwide
- Making laytime calculations, and handling of a variety of laytime and demurrage disputes with Charterers involving Notices of Readiness, commencement of laytime, laytime exceptions, holidays, congestion, strikes etc. till finalization of the accounts
- In contact with P&I clubs for precautionary measures, i.e. appointment of surveyors/correspondents for draft survey and sealing (bulk cargoes), tally and monitoring of loading/discharging operations (especially for bagged cargoes), pre loading survey etc to avoid situations which might give rise to claims and subsequently delays and costs for the fleet under management
- Handling of claims -demurrages due and their collection, cargo claims, shortages, port fines- with P&I clubs and legal firms.


Qualifications
1) The person must be experience in Maritime and shipping
2) Fluent in English.
3) Understanding of shipping Terms (Contracts / Fixture of recap )
