Responsibilities
• Conduct a status quo analysis of SOS Children’s Villages Syria, including a situation Analysis, existing material and capacities, risk assessment, etc…
• External mapping in Syria: identify key country-level contacts, national child protection legislation, existing national protection systems if any, with whom to work/network, potential resources for local advice and possible victim response
• Develop a national action plan based on status quo analysis togather with relevant co-workers, including a training strategy to support child protection implementation in line with „Implementation Guide“ of SOS Children’s Villages International
• Facilitate the development of safeguarding and child protection policies, training and procedures and guidance in SOS Children’s Villages Programs.
• To define local reporting procedures for responding effectively and appropriately to any child
• To develop and implement a regular monitoring system and document advances and difficulties
• To provide activities that will support knowledge, practice and skills development ON Child Protection Policy and any other guidelines or policies related to child protection
• Monitor and review the implementation of the relevant guidelines, policies and procedures to ensure they are adhered to, remain current and fit for purpose.
• Contribute to the organization of awareness campaigns in relation to child protection and being able to represent SOS Syria regarding child protection events.
• Ensure that Child Protection is part of the national and local planning
• To support communication on child protection via a range of means (newsletter, good practice sharing, etc.), to all key stakeholder groups, especially children including elaborating child friendly child protection material
• Develop policies, procedures, systems, structures, resources and personnel in place to promote the welfare and protection of children
• Develop and monitor the activity plan for MSP centers.
• Supervise activity coordinators to develop affective activity plan for each child.
• Monitoring and evaluating children activities in accordance with SOS child protection standards.
• Ensure there are quality assurance mechanisms in place to monitor, review and evaluate arrangements for the protection of children.
• To work directly with children in need and their families in the community in order to promote, strengthen and develop the potential of caregivers and their children in order to prevent children becoming looked after and/or suffering significant harm.
• Provide support and guidance to caregivers and provide planned interventions as part of agreed plans for children.
• Maintain confidential records of reported cases, action taken, liaise with the statutory agencies and ensure they have access to all necessary information Report cases, concerns and actions taken to the IACC coordinator


Qualifications
• Speaking at least two languages: English and Arabic
• University degree in psychology
• 3 to 4 years of experience at least in the field of child protection, education.
• Professional experience in NGOs is a plus
• Experience in working with children & youth
