Responsibilities
The Health Manager works as part of a diverse Medair team to manage, supervise, monitor and evaluate the assigned health and nutrition project(s) in close coordination with the Health and Nutrition Advisor. The Health Manager reports on the projects progress in line with proposal, log-frame & budget defined objectives, time-frame and funds allocated with a focus on health and nutrition system strengthening, training and coordination.

Duties:

- Responsible for the implementation, management, supervision and support of the assigned health project(s).
- Regular monitoring and evaluation including field trips.
- Oversee the process of data collection, collation and dissemination to meet the requirements and deadlines set by Medair and/or external partners.
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting of activities for internal and external report.
- Input into the development of the country strategy, new projects and/or donor proposals.
- Manage and oversee the assigned health team including recruitment, day to day management, development and training, appraisals, etc.
- Facilitate regular team meetings with the assigned health team, and appropriate supervision, coaching, mentoring and training.
- Manage the health/nutrition budget for the assigned project(s).
- Develop and maintain appropriate, regular, transparent and supportive communication structures with the assigned health/nutrition team, MoH, SARC and other relevant stakeholders.
- Participate in health and nutrition coordination meetings, trainings, and other working groups or meetings as required.
- Support the logistics activities such as purchasing of medicines, supplies and equipment.


Qualifications
To be successful in this role you must have:

- Degree or Diploma in medicine (nurse, midwife, doctor) or Public Health.
- At least 2 years related professional experiences in the medical sector.
- At least 1 year management experience in health/nutrition context.
- Excellent English (oral and written).
- Familiar with Microsoft Office programmes.
- Very good communication and interpersonal skills, very good oral and written communication.
- Experience in training / mentoring / coaching staff.
- Ability to manage project implementation.
- Good numerical, report writing and administration skills
- Problem solving ability.
- Clinical skills within a Primary Health Care setting.
- Knowledge of humanitarian principles, Sphere and HAP Standards and other international humanitarian guidelines and protocols.
- Able to prioritize clearly and oversee multiple tasks.
- Able to take the initiative in project decisions.
- Able to set clear objectives for staff and to delegate.
- Able to consult and lead by example.

It is preferable also to have previous experience in working with NGOs, experience in the monitoring, implementation and evaluation of public health and CMAM programmes, advanced planning, assessment and analytical skills.

The successful candidate must be legally allowed to Work in Syria, need to be holder of fully valid passport for travel to Lebanon/Jordan for training.

This is a position based in Damascus with frequent field visits (subject to staff safety procedures and movement approvals). Working week is usually 5 days per week, Sunday to Thursday 9:00 – 17:00.

This position requires flexibility at times. Travel might be required to Lebanon/Jordan for training or meetings.

Salary and Benefits
We offer an interesting job with Medair. We will offer the successful applicant an eight month contract, renewable dependent on both funding and performance. You must be willing and able to work in Damascus, Rural Damascus, Homs and Aleppo.

Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Medair Terms of Employment for National staff hired at similar positions.
