Responsibilities
Generic responsibilities
1. Adherence to NRC principles, policies, guidance and procedures
2. Promote the rights of beneficiaries in line with the advocacy strategy
3. Involve and inform communities and community leaders about the activities
4. Ensure that procurement, development and distribution of materials and equipment are timely and according to procedures
5. Prepare periodic progress reports and other documents as required
6. Conduct field visits in the different areas of NRC NFIs programs
7. Ensure a constructive co-operation with NRC local partner in Syria
8. Ensure a constructive co-operation with NRC’s other programmes in Syria
9. Ensure a constructive co-operation with National and local authorities.
10. Ensure a constructive co-operation with other international and local NGOs as well as the UN family
11. Ensure that any NRC project intervention is in accordance with NRC standards and meets the specifications as agreed with the community.
12. Maintain direct communication with NFIs Officer
13. Ensure and promote efficient and cost-effective use of NRC’s assets and resources in order to maximize funding to beneficiaries
14. To fulfil any other task, the Shelter Officer may ask for in relation to the program.

Specific responsibilities
1. Responsible for data gathering and registration
2. Responsible for data analysis and information sharing with other NRC departments and partners
3. Contribute to the design and implementation of an emergency humanitarian responses (distribution of food and non-food items)
4. Responsible for designing distribution activities plans
5. Prepare, follow and evaluate distribution activities
6. Constantly liaise with beneficiaries and NRC personnel to reach project’s goals.
7. Contribute to the provision of facilitation, organizational and logistical support to staff of the project.
8. Contribute to ensuring that the projects implemented are realized as planned in a timely manner.
9. Other duties as assigned and agreed upon by the supervisor



Qualifications

4. Experience in community sensitization/ mobilization.

6. Previous experience from working in a humanitarian/recovery context

8. Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
9. Fluency in English, both written and verbal
10. Strong working knowledge of MS Office package
11. Practical experience with planning and execution of distribution projects
12. Experience of management of projects to deadlines is an advantage
13. Experience in logistics/admin management is an advantage

Context/ Specific skills, knowledge and experience:
1. Minimum of 2 years of field related experience preferably supported by a certificate from an Intermediate Institute of Business administration, IT….
2. Demonstrated related training experience.
3. Knowledge of and experience in working with relevant line Ministries & local and international NGOs preferred

About us
NRC is a non-governmental, non-profit, humanitarian, independent organisation. It provides assistance to people affected by crises & i.e. refugees, internally displaced people, host communities etc. - to meet their immediate humanitarian needs, prevent further displacement and contribute to durable solutions.
NRC was established in 1946 under the name Aid to Europe, to assist refugees in Europe after World War II. After almost 70 years of interventions all over the world, today NRC is organised as an independent and private foundation that cooperates closely with the UN and other humanitarian organisations, around the world as well as in Norway. NRCs funding base is not only diverse but also flexible, counting a number of different donors including the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the United Nations. In 2014 NRC assisted more than four million displaced and conflict-affected people around the world, and raised more than USD 250 million for our humanitarian programming. Currently NRC operates in 25 countries worldwide with over 5,000 staff members, the majority of which are national employees. All NRC projects are supervised by the Head Office of the organization in Oslo while in the Middle East, NRC country offices report to a regional office based in Amman. All the programs are implemented in close coordination with governments and local authorities.
The type of activities implemented in each context varies from country to country depending on the needs on the ground and priorities laid out in strategic response plans of Governments and the UN. However NRC mainly specialises in five programme areas: Education, Shelter, WASH, Food Security as well as supporting displacement affected population to access further services. Moreover, extensive expertise has been gained by the organization over the years also on Collective Shelters Coordination and Management.
In addition, NRC provides expertise as a strategic partner to the UN as well as to national and international actors including governments and line ministries- through its stand-by rosters. Only in 2014 almost 600 humanitarian experts were deployed to 49 countries, making NRCs rosters the most used expert deployment capacity in the humanitarian world.
Finally, NRC promotes and sustains efforts at different levels to keep high the attention on the condition and situation of displaced and vulnerable people affected by ongoing crisis.
